To badly quote Shakespeare, to outsource or not to outsource, that is the question…

It’s something we get asked a lot and one of the things we go through on our Free Strategy Calls. Just last week we spoke to a lady who was so overwhelmed with working on her business… she was doing her ads at 10 pm from bed. In that case, I’d be recommending outsourcing!

Here are five reasons why outsourcing your ads might be better than doing it in-house:

  1. Access to specialised skills and expertise: Agencies like ours specialise in this one area, and have people specifically trained on this. As you know Facebook ads are constantly changing, keeping up to date on that takes a lot of time, and you need a data analyst, a copywriter and a graphic designer… all skills that are harder to hire and train in-house.
  2. Improved efficiency and productivity: Outsourcing your advertising can save you time and resources, allowing you to focus on other aspects of your business and your life. After all, isn’t that why you started your business?
  3. Cost savings: Unless you can dedicate a lot of time to your ads, there is the chance you’re leaving things on longer than they need to be and losing money. Being able to optimise your ads efficiently can save you a lot of money.
  4. Flexibility: Outsourcing your advertising allows you to scale up or down your advertising efforts as needed, without the need to hire or train additional staff.
  5. Increased objectivity and creativity: Working with an outside agency can provide fresh perspectives and ideas, which can help improve the effectiveness of your advertising campaigns. Focusing on your own product all day long, it is easy to lose inspiration, whereas an agency is constantly exposed to new ideas they can implement for you!

Here are four reasons why doing your advertising in-house might be better than outsourcing:

  1. Greater control over the creative process: When you do your advertising in-house, you have more control over every aspect of the process, from concept to execution. If you are exceptionally particular about how you want things done, in-house might be the way to go. We pride ourselves on nailing your branding, but some people want more control and that’s okay.
  2. Improved communication and collaboration: When your advertising team is in-house, it is easier to collaborate and communicate with other departments and ensure that your advertising efforts align with your overall business goals and objectives. This usually works best when you have a nice team to brainstorm with in-house!
  3. A better understanding of your brand and audience: In-house teams have a deeper understanding of your brand and audience. This can go both ways though if it keeps you stuck and unwilling to grow!
  4. Cost savings in the long term: While outsourcing your advertising may save you money in the short term, in the long term, building and maintaining an in-house team may be more cost-effective. It depends on the way you want to grow your business and whether you want to grow a big team or keep things lean.

There is a time and a place for both options, some brands really need an internal team and some need an external team. If you’re looking for an external team, or need help deciding we’d love to chat!
