Well, it isn’t actually my birthday until next Monday, however, I wanted to share with you why Birthdays and Marketing go so well together.

This month I have received offers for discounted ice cream cakes, $10 off from my favorite kitchen and clothing shops, free ice cream and juice in time for my actual birthday, and lots of other discounts and general good wishes. No these weren’t presented by friends but by very clever marketing people.

Why does this make a difference? As a marketer, I know exactly what they are doing!! It doesn’t take away from the warm fuzzy feeling, even if I know it came from a piece of computer software that remembers that this month is my birthday and spits out a pre-written birthday offer… doesn’t sound so romantic, but I still end up feeling loved.

If you don’t have an auto-responder campaign set up for your clients’ birthdays – you need to! It takes about an hour to set up, and will keep running indefinitely!
